Installation and use
Easy installation
Repello is designed to be used straight out of the box. Plug the device into a wall outlet in the space you want to protect, such as a basement, attic, or storage area. Place it as free as possible from obstacles so the sound signal can spread effectively throughout the room.
Place one in each high-risk area
- Kitchen – scares away rats attracted to food scraps and waste.
- Garage – prevents rats from establishing nests among boxes and vehicles.
- Crawl space – place near the entrance where rats often enter.
- Basement and attic – typical habitats for rats; install a device if there is an electrical outlet.
- Storage rooms and warehouses – protects food, feed, and materials from rodents.

What is a rat repeller – and why is it needed?
Rats and mice are a growing problem in Sweden. They destroy cables, gnaw on building materials, and spread diseases. Using poison is no longer a sustainable solution – both for the environment and for safety reasons. Therefore, more and more homeowners, businesses, and farmers are looking for alternatives that really work. This is where rat repellers come into play.
A rat repeller is an electronic device that emits sound waves or vibrations that cause rats and mice to avoid the area. But not all rat repellers are equally effective. Many of the cheap models on the market rely on simple ultrasonic technology – something the rodents quickly get used to.
Why common rat repellents often fail

Swedish research behind
Repello is the result of 5 years of research at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in collaboration with Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Professor Örjan Johansson and his team studied how different sound frequencies affect the rodents' nervous system.
Through laboratory tests, the researchers were able to map exactly which sound patterns activate the reptilian brain – the part of the brain that controls the animals' most primitive flight reflexes.
The result was a patented technology: Repello rat repeller. Unlike traditional ultrasonic repellents, Repello is based on complex sound sequences that constantly vary in frequency and intensity. The effect is that the rats cannot get used to it, but flee in panic and avoid the place in the future.

Does Repello really work – has it been tested?
Yes. Repello is the result of several years of research at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). In controlled tests, up to 100% of the rats disappeared within 24 hours and avoided the area for up to 18 days, even when the sound was turned off.
Can humans or pets hear the sound?
