Repello mouse and rat repeller
One Repello protects a room from rats and mice. For the whole house or larger areas, most customers choose 2–3 Repello units and place them in high-risk areas such as basements, garages and storage rooms.
Product information
Not yet another scam
The only mouse and rat repeller with scientific backing. Researchers at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) have discovered how to mimic the warning sounds that rats themselves use.
Safe for your pets
The product uses frequencies that humans cannot hear – but that rats and mice find highly unpleasant.
Confirmed effectiveness in SLU study
A pilot study at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) showed a significant reduction in the rat population when the technology was tested in controlled environments. The rats interrupted their established behaviours, avoided the surfaces and stayed away throughout the entire test period.
Protects up to 40 m²
One unit covers a larger space such as a garage, basement or attic.

Installation and use
Easy installation
Repello is designed to be used straight out of the box. Plug the unit into a wall socket in the space you want to protect, for example a basement, attic or storage facility. Place it as free from obstacles as possible so that the sound signal spreads effectively throughout the entire room.
Place one in each high-risk area
- Kitchen – scares away rats that are attracted to food scraps and waste.
- Garage – prevents rats from establishing nests among boxes and vehicles.
- Crawl space – place near the entrance where rats often gain entry.
- Basement and attic – typical rat hideouts; install a unit if a power outlet is available.
- Storage rooms and warehouse spaces – protects food, feed and materials from rodents.
- Utility room or boiler room – places with water pipes and heat that attract rats.
How it works
When Repello is activated, a unique sound signal is emitted – developed by researchers at LTU and SLU – that rats instinctively associate with life-threatening danger. They then leave the area and avoid returning for an extended period of time.
Maintenance-free
The product requires no service or supervision. Once the unit is plugged in, it operates completely automatically.

A smarter way to get rid of rodents
Stop worrying about rats and mice. Repello works silently in the background and protects your home around the clock.

Keeps the home free from rats and mice
Repello creates an environment that rats and mice avoid – without you noticing anything in your daily life.

Safe for both humans and pets
The frequencies only affect rodents, not children, dogs or cats. It is completely inaudible.

Works in all types of spaces
Effective in basements, garages, storage rooms, attics and other problem areas. IP rated and moisture protected.

The world's first scientifically tested mouse and rat repeller
Repello is the only rat and mouse repeller that is based on the species' own alarm signals. Developed in collaboration with researchers at LTU and evaluated at SLU.
91%
Fewer rat observations
In the SLU pilot study, the number of registered rats decreased dramatically when Repello's signal was activated. Activity dropped by over 90% in some spaces, even in heavily affected environments.
100%
Repelling effect
In every registered rat encounter the same reaction occurred: the rat stopped, turned around and left the area. Not a single individual ignored the signal – all fled immediately.
The results showed a significant reduction in rat observations
Key study findings
The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences conducted a pilot study in which an ultrasonic signal was tested in a residential building with documented rat problems. Using infrared cameras, researchers monitored rat behaviour in real time. The results were clear: the signal affected rat behaviour immediately and significantly reduced activity, particularly in narrow passageways.
The study was conducted in a residential building with documented rat problems, in three different spaces where rats moved naturally.
First, rat activity was measured without any intervention. The ultrasonic signal was then activated during an intervention week in order to compare the effects.
The signal's frequency sweep (25–85 kHz) and pulsating nature mimicked the rat's own teeth grinding "alarm sound" – not random ultrasound.
When the sound was activated, rat activity decreased significantly. In the corridor, observations dropped by over 90% compared to the control week.
The few individuals that despite the sound made their way into the space turned around immediately and left the area, demonstrating a 100% repelling effect on rats that were directly exposed.
Recognized for actually working
Other products are criticized for lack of effect. Repello is praised for working in the real world.

Frequently asked questions and answers
Does Repello really work – has it been tested?
Yes. Repello was developed in collaboration with researchers and tested by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). In controlled tests, up to 90% of the rats disappeared within 24 hours and avoided the area for up to 18 days, even when the sound was turned off.
Can humans or pets hear the sound?
No. The sound is inaudible to humans, dogs and cats. Repello is completely safe to use in homes, restaurants and other environments where humans and pets are present.
How large an area does one Repello unit cover?
One unit covers approximately 40 m². For best results we recommend one unit per floor or per separate space, for example a basement, garage or storage room.
Does Repello affect other animals?
Repello is targeted at rats and mice, but may affect domestic rodents such as hamsters and guinea pigs. The sound profile is optimised for wild rodents' hearing, but since hamsters, guinea pigs and other small domestic rodents have similar sensitivity to high-frequency sounds they may experience discomfort. The product is therefore not recommended for use in the same room as domestic rodents.
How soon will I notice an effect?
Mice and rats usually respond quickly to the sound pattern and may begin leaving the area within the first 24 hours. In some environments—such as older buildings, larger spaces, or areas with plenty of hiding places—it can take up to a week before all activity ceases.
Can rats get used to the sound?
No. Tests show that mice and rats respond instinctively to the signals, and the risk of habituation is very low. Repello is based on frequency patterns that trigger rodents’ innate flight response. It is not a sound they can get used to or learn to ignore—the brain reacts reflexively each time the signal is detected.
Does it work on mice?
Yes, Repello also works on mice, including wood mice. The product is designed to disrupt both rats and mice using their natural alarm signals, causing them to leave the area and helping to prevent them from returning.
