Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about Repello.
How large an area does one Repello unit cover?
One unit covers approximately 40 m². For best results we recommend one unit per floor or per separate space, for example a basement, garage or storage room.
How good is Repello?
In tests against competitors, Repello has up to 30% higher sound levels, causing rodents to flee immediately. Thanks to the unique sound sequences, rats never get used to the sound – and therefore do not come back.
Is it the same repeller for both rats and mice?
Yes! Repello is designed to affect both rats and mice. The product uses their own alarm signals – sounds that both species are biologically programmed to react to.
You therefore do not need different models – one and the same Repello works effectively against both types of rodents.
Can rats get used to the sound?
No. Repello is based on signals that activate the rat's ancient flight instinct. It is not a sound they can learn to ignore – the brain reacts reflexively.
Can Repello be used outdoors?
Repello is designed for indoor use, where the sound spreads and reflects between the walls for maximum effect. Outdoors the sound dissipates more quickly, so the effect becomes limited there.
Does it work against mice?
Yes, Repello works against both rats and mice, including wood mice. It disrupts their natural alarm signals, causing them to leave the area and avoid returning.
Can humans or pets hear the sound?
No. The sound is inaudible to humans, dogs and cats. Repello is completely safe to use in homes, restaurants and other environments where humans and pets are present.
Does Repello really work – has it been tested?
Yes. Repello was developed in collaboration with researchers. A pilot study showed promising results where the rat population decreased dramatically. The results showed a significant reduction in rat observations, where activity dropped by over 91%.
Is it available in a battery-powered version?
Currently, Repello is only available for operation via a wall socket, as the technology requires a steady and stable power supply to deliver full effect.
Does it work in motorhomes?
Yes, Repello can be used in motorhomes as long as there is access to a wall socket (220 V). Many people use it during winter storage to prevent mice and other rodents from getting in.
Can you use it in a car?
Yes, Repello can be used in a car – especially during winter storage or when the car is parked for longer periods. The product connects to a standard wall socket (220 V), so if you are able to connect the car to power (for example via an engine heater outlet or in a garage) it works excellently.
Does Repello use a lot of power?
No, Repello is very energy efficient and uses only approximately 2.8 watts, which is roughly the same energy consumption as a small night light. You can therefore leave it plugged in around the clock without it making a noticeable difference to your electricity bill.
Does the sound pass through walls or other solid materials?
The sound from Repello spreads best in open spaces, where it can reflect off walls and floors. The sound does not pass effectively through solid materials such as walls, ceilings or insulation – which is why the unit is recommended in the room or space where the problem exists.
Where should I place it?
Plug Repello into the wall socket and place it low towards the floor, where rats and mice move around. Avoid placing it behind furniture, curtains or other objects that may block the sound – it should stand freely for the best spread.
The unit works best in the room or space where you notice activity, for example in a basement, crawl space, storage room or garage.
